Educational leave without a recognition decision: what is possible?
What employees can do before a state decision exists — and what Auszeit Gran Canaria states.
What Auszeit is today
Auszeit Gran Canaria runs five-day resilience seminars in Las Palmas (yoga, yoga+padel and other formats). They are designed for educational leave in scope and teaching method. No federal state has issued a recognition decision.
What is still possible
A private seminar during annual leave. Or the employer grants voluntary paid or unpaid leave. Bavaria and Saxony have no educational-leave law — the voluntary route is the only one. In North Rhine-Westphalia the 500 km rule applies: Gran Canaria is not claimable as Bildungsurlaub.
Berlin
In September 2026 a Berlin Bildungszeit application was filed for “Workplace resilience with yoga and padel”. Without a decision the seminar must not be advertised as recognised. After a positive decision it can appear in Berlin’s Bildungszeit search.
Dates
